Ladies We Love: Louanne

Woman standing in comfortable Rose & Thorne Active Bra on farm with her arms in the air

Louanne worked on the front-lines of COVID-19 and is renowned as the best parent dancer in town. We spoke to Louanne about self-love, how she spends her 'me-time', and what beauty means to her…

What is your name, bra size, and secret power?

Louanne Storey, 12E. I think my secret power is my organisational skills. I’m a “lists” woman, but, according to my husband, it’s no secret.

Tell us more about how you were involved on the frontline of COVID-19.

I work in the Microbiology Laboratory at Middlemore Hospital and I’m in charge of a team of Scientists who, amongst other things, are doing COVID-19 testing. It’s been crazy busy, and while we were fortunate not to find a lot of the virus in NZ, it took a lot of hard work by the Laboratory to prove this. It is interesting, and at times, a challenging role.

What makes you the happiest in life?

Swimming in the sea, skiing (slowly) down a mountain, and a wine & a laugh with my friends.

Who inspires you the most and why?

Elite sportspeople for their dedication & determination. It just amazes me how hard they work to achieve their goals

Among your friends, what are you best known for?

Never leaving the house without my lippy on & that I can be talked into a glass of bubbles in about 0.5 of a nanosecond.

What’s something most people wouldn’t know about you?

I was in the army.

What is your favourite thing about yourself?

My sense of humour and optimism, and I am also a really good dancer. This I know because I got a certificate at my daughters' school disco for being the best parent dancer! She was mortified at the time but now I think she is secretly proud.

What is your favourite way to get your body moving and grooving?

Going out on the farm and getting some jobs done.

What do you do for yourself?

Exercise. I go to the gym before work and I enjoy riding my bike.

What has been your biggest body struggle?

I’m not someone who has been hung up about my body, I’m grateful it works as well as it does but if I had to say something I wouldn’t have minded a smaller set of boobs.

What do you do to boost your body confidence on days you're feeling down about your body?

Put that red lippy on and smile!

What's the best thing about being a woman?

The ability to multi-task & being a mother. I have been blessed with a fabulous daughter who is clever & kind. We also find the same things funny.

What is beauty to you?

Confidence. I am so impressed by it.

What's the best piece of advice you've heard or received about body confidence?

“Kindness makes you the most beautiful person in the world no matter what you look like.” –Unknown.  I know it is true because my cat doesn't care what I look like but he thinks I'm the most beautiful person in the world.

What is your favourite go-to Rose & Thorne bra, and why?

Smooth Operator bras because of the shape under T-shirts and it doesn’t show the lumps & bumps. I’m also a big fan of the Active Bra

Thanks, Louanne! You're incredible!
